Some recent shots taken by Nigerian photographer Lakin Ogunbanwo, one of my favourite contemporary fashion photographers.
There’s always an air of mystery to his images that make them incredibly unique. With the faces of the models hidden in these photos, the objective of making their clothing stand out and feel memorable is done so effortlessly.
Jimi Urquiaga has released his debut Spring/Summer 2014 collection, Aguanile, from his new clothing line J. Urquiaga.
A lot of the inspiration from the collection originated from Urquiaga’s culture background and profound interests. As a Cuban-American, he was greatly inspired by the woman of the Afro-Cuban religion, Santeria. As a form of spiritual purity, the women who practice Santeria wear all white. Thus, “Aguanile” by J. Urquiaga was conceived. Aguan, meaning “cleansing,” fits as the appropriate title in relation to the study of Santeria by Afro-Cubans. Urquiaga was eager to create this collection that exemplified the culture of this religion and embodied a clean palette in which welcomes the Spring/Summer of 2014.
